LEI HOPE SINNER

Zimbabwe-born, Leeds-based artist Lei Hope has revealed his vulnerable new single, ‘Sinner’. It’s an introspective track that keeps its instrumental light and simplistic, with space for lyrics that wrestle with faith, family and loss. He says it’s his “most personal and honest song on this project. I kind of struggled with both family and faith post-pandemic and living alone in Manchester but I'd never explicitly written about it until now.” Sonically, the track is luscious and atmospheric, with an underlying folk influence being wrapped up in a psychedelic bow, courtesy of reverb-soaked layers of strings and woodwind. ‘Sinner’ is lifted from his upcoming EP, Matrices, which is due for release on May 10th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
